Warm Valley Song
A free French horn piece at Level 2 for practising steps and skips. Print it, play along at three speeds, and share it with your students.
When to use this piece
Use it when a student reads well by step but hesitates on skips, or to build interval reading.
How to practise it
- Find every skip of a third in the score and name both notes.
- Play the skips slowly, saying 'line to line' or 'space to space'.
- Play along at 60%, then increase the speed.
Teacher tip. Thirds jump line to line or space to space. Have the student spot that pattern before they play a note.
